Challenges are the stuff of a life well lived. Many just show up. Some, put upon us by others: bosses, team members, family. Achievements, growth, learning, and occasionally some fun is part of meeting the challenge.

The unhealthy reality is the tendency to approach challenge with a “have to” attitude. In reality, there is very little that we actually have to do. We choose to take on challenges because there is a benefit to doing so or an undesirable consequence for not doing so. Try it for a week. Catch yourself saying “I have to” and replace it with “I choose to”. Take control.

My choose to challenge for the summer is the Café to Café challenge sponsored by Sound Rider. Fifteen cafés spread between British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, and Montana – approximately 3000 miles via motorcycle. I’m currently on the California coast and have visited 11 of 15 destinations.
